With the 2005 show season coming to an end, our thoughts are filled with the up coming holiday season and the 2006 Scottsdale show season. Although we have had many guests throughout the year, Thanksgiving weekend is the kickoff for those of us living in Scottsdale for the upcoming show season. We always look forward to a steady stream of guests visiting us and getting a first hand glimpse of the future superstars of the 2006 Scottsdale show.

In the last couple months we have had some very exciting additions to our collection of outstanding horses and look forward to sharing them with you in the months to follow. We are very excited to announce that BB’s daughter FAR Faryna (pictured left) has joined us as a new addition to our broodmare band. Faryna is BB’s second foal of sixteen and her most look alike daughter, she is sired by Aladdinn I who was one of Aladdinn’s most beautiful sons. Aladdinn I was exported to Brazil back in 1990. The second mare to join us is the exquisite mare Magna Psyche who is the younger full sister to International Champion Magnum Psyche. Magna is in foal to the Polish imported stallion *Ecaho for a March 2006 foal.

Traveling and visiting with other breeders and seeing their new foals has always been something we enjoy. It is fun and educational to see what cross was a success and as usual we find a couple superstars and want to bring them home to Scottsdale. This is exactly what happened on a recent trip back to Michigan to see the new foals of Selket Arabians; David was one of the first too see two absolutely incredible weanling foals. The first was a spectacular black-bay filly Selket Mystique sired by the beautifully headed Reserve National Champion DaVinci FM, who is also the sire of the 2005 US National Champion Futurity Colt MPA Giovanni. Mystique is out of the beautiful mare Khahluah, a daughter of World Champion Junior Stallion Furno Khamal and out of a daughter of the straight Russian stallion Kilimandscharo. This filly took three steps out of her stall and David knew we had to have her.

Selket Marque

The second foal to catch David’s eye is the absolutely exquisite young son of the incredible Marwan Al Shaqab who of course needs no introduction. We named this colt Selket Marque, he is destined to be the talk of the 2006 Scottsdale season! Marque has a very similar breeding on his dams side as Mystique, his mother's sire is World Champion Junior Stallion Furno Khamal and out of the stunning straight Russian mare Selket Khamala. Marque gave me (David) the same kind of goose bumpy, hair standing up on the back of my neck, can’t take my eyes off of him feeling that Marajj gave me the first time I saw him in the flesh. Our hats are off to long time breeder Jim Andreson for breeding these two incredible foals and for allowing us to purchase them. We look forward to presenting both at the 2006 Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show. We would also like to “thank” the many trainers and agents who have already been to our place to see Marque and Mystique, the buzz is very exciting! The third foal to join us is beautiful black filly sired by National Champion Magnum Chall.

We would also like to thank and congratulate the following for purchasing horse from Stonewall Farm Arabians:

  • Santo Cracchiolo of Italy on his purchase of the beautiful straight Egyptian filly True Barressa. We look forward to seeing Barressa compete at the top shows in Europe in 2006.
  • Jeff & Rich Sloan of Aria Arabians on the purchase of Magna Psyche’s 2006 unborn foal by the champion stallion *Ecaho.

Many of you have heard us talk about wanting a new exciting way of promoting our Arabians to a new audience and the need for a way of bringing new people into the Arabian horse industry. Well at the 2005 All Nations Cup in Germany this year we along with Jeff and Rich Sloan talked about how great it would be to have a purebred halter show in Las Vegas to promote the purebred Arabian and “put the show back in showing”! Needless to say Jeff, Rich and Scott sent out e-mails, talked with other interested parties and now are in full planning mode of a spectacular new show set for April of 2007 in Las Vegas. This will be a show for purebred Arabian halter horses, educational seminars, entertainment and lots of fun and excitement!

We are in the process of putting together a trip to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates for March of 2006. We will be attending the Dubai International Horse Fair on March 26-29, and planning a guided tour of Arabian breeders and places of interest. Contact us for more details and information if you are interested in visiting Dubai.

With all of that said we once again “Thank you” for visiting our Web site. Your comments, suggestions and kind words mean so much to us. We look forward to seeing you here in Scottsdale or wherever our paths shall cross. Have a great holiday season and remember united we can all make a difference.

Your friends,
David & Scott

We have just return from an absolutely wonderful vacation/adventure with our great friends Henry and Christy Metz of Silver Maple Farm in Santa Ynez. Of course just as our daily lives do, this trip was centered on beautiful Arabian horses and the incredible people they have brought into our lives. We started our journey in Mallorca, Spain where we were guest of Marieta Salas at her breathtaking farm Ses Planes. Mallorca is an absolutely beautiful island in Spain, we had a great time with Marieta and the incredibly beautiful horses that call Ses Planes their home. Seeing El Perfecto in person was wonderful, he is truly an outstanding stallion. Also while in Mallorca we also had the pleasure of visiting the farm of Jason Bloom and Yegardo Ferrara. Jason presented to us an outstanding collection of show and breeding horses that would surely make any lover of beautiful Arabians envious! Many of which the following week did very well at the All Nations Cup in Aachen, Germany.

Scott, Marieta, David, Henry, Christie and Gigi
enjoying yet another great meal in France.

It was then on to St. Tropez , wow want an abssolutely beautiful place. Our hotel was situated high on a cliff over looking the St. Tropez bay, which was so beautiful during the day and at night was just as amazing with all of the lights from the yachts in the bay. St. Tropez is an incredible place to visit; the downtown area was very exciting, with quaint cafés and spectacular shopping. St. Tropez is well known for the celebrities that party there but what brought us to this incredible city was its first Arabian horse show. The show was held at the St. Tropez Polo Club and was a flawless show from start to finish. Everything about the show was first class from the gorgeous horses that were presented to the design of the presentation ring which was on the polo field.

Some mares at Gigi's beautiful Farm in Italy

After leaving St. Tropez we were off to the home of our good friend Gigi Grasso near Torrino Italy. Once again we had a great time seeing Gigi’s and Paulo’s outstanding collection of horses, spending time with friends and of course eating, eating and eating more eating!. Gigi much like all of our hosts on this trip made us feel very much at home and provided us with many many many wonderful things to eat and wonderful memories. It would be very hard for us to decide whether the food was better in Spain of Italy. While visiting Serne Egyptian Stud in Lake Garda, Italy we had an incredible meal with some of the absolutely best olive oil we have ever tasted. Marieta Salas tells us at night the Italian’s come into Spain and buy their olive oil and pour it into bottles labeled “Made in Italy”. We love to tease Gigi about that!

We also got to visit Verona and Venice while in Italy. Two cities we highly recommend if you are planning a trip to Italy. In Venice light and water combine to create a restless magic. All borderlines are eradicated some where between dream and reality, present and past, the ethereal nature of this town has fascinated many people. Verona the city of the most famous lovers in history: Romeo and Juliet. It is one of the cities that has better preserved its artistic heritage in Italy. Both cities have incredible history, architecture and great shopping. Venice was defiantly a favorite city of ours in Italy!

It was great to see Michael Byatt and his British friends,
so excitied about beautiful Arabians in Aachen

After four days in Italy it was on to our last stop, the All Nations Cup in Aachen Germany. Here we were absolutely blown away by the quality and quantity of horses showing. This show was an absolute blast, the horses are presented in a manner that is very appealing to the spectators as well as the horses. Lots and lots of trotting, tails flagged and heads held high! Many of our American friends were on hand including Bob & Dixie North, they were very excited that the Champion mare was the beautiful Padron Psyche daughter Psyche’s Amber Gem. Psyche had several offspring that did very well at this show. Bob & Janene Boggs were present as well, Bob did a great job presenting horses for Jason Blom of Yegardo Ferrara. Bob carried the American flag and made us all proud. Michael Byatt presented the US National Champion Stallion Dakar El Jamaal who was third behind his son Dakharo who was second in their class. Dakharo went on to be the Reserve Champion Senior Stallion, the incredibly beautiful Escape Ibn Navarrone-D was named Champion Senior Stallion. Our friends Jeff & Rich Sloan of Aria Arabians attended as well, this was their first time attending the Nations Cup, and it’s safe to say we bet they will be back next year! Along with all of the Americans it was great to see old friends and clients form all over the world and to make some new ones as well.

We were very pleased to finally meet in person the new owner of Marajj, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Saud Al Qassimi. Pictured right with our friends Scott Allman and Mary Lang. We wish Marajj the best at this years US Nationals, presented in Yearling Sweepstakes Colts.

We are back home now preparing for a trip back to our home state of Michigan, visiting with our family, friends and fellow breeders. After Michigan it is on to the US Nationals, and then Brazil and the World show in Paris. We wish all of our friends and clients great shows and much success.

Thank you to everyone for the nice comments on the newly designed Stonewall Farm Website, the amount of traffic recently has been really amazing. We worked very hard on this new design and are glad that people noticed all the new features and pages. We will be adding many more sections in the coming months, so keep watching.

Summer is coming to an end (yippy), the days are getting cooler and we are looking forward to a beautiful fall in the valley. With the excess rain from the spring and monsoons the desert is alive with gorgeous cactus and desert flowers.

We would like to “Thank” Mr. Peter Pond of Forest Hills Stud located in NSW Australia for visiting us here in Scottsdale this month. Peter as many of you may know is the Vice President of WAHO (http://www.waho.org), we had a great time talking about the Arabian horse industry and showing Peter around town and the beautiful Arabian horses that call Scottsdale their home. We are looking forward to working with Peter in the near future and visiting his farm in Australia.

Last week we had a great photo session with our good friend Stuart Vesty. We always enjoy working with Stuart and his work is just amazing. We got some wonderful photos of our young horses and the first new photos of our Marwan filly out of Desert Rose. It is not easy getting photographers out to Arizona in the hot summer to photograph horses, but as always Stuart was a real trooper and did a fantastic job.

We have also been very busy working with our architect on the plans for our new house and farm. The 5 acres we purchased in North Scottsdale is just amazing. The views of the mountains are unobstructed in every direction and are breathtaking to behold. We are going to build a state of the art Equine marketing and sales facility. It will house the office for Arabhorse.com and our new "venture" (more on that later in the year :-)

David & Scott

Egyptian Event 2005 - Once again the overall quality of horses at the Egyptian Event this year was extremely impressive for us. Although the weather was the usual very hot and very humid the show was very impressive. Attending the Egyptian Event is always a pleasure for us, and we look forward to showing our straight Egyptian filly SWF Malika next year. This year was the Egyptian Events 25 th Anniversary; The Pyramid Society has long stood as a trusted and dedicated promoter of Egyptian Arabian horses . On Friday night the Pyramid Society hosted a “Celebrate the Silver” Gala and Fundraiser dinner dance. This fun-filled night highlighted an art auction that benefits The Pyramid Society’s ongoing programs. It was a great evening for us all!

On Saturday the Egyptian Breeder’s Challenge Stallion Breeding Auction was very well attended, we were the successful bidders on the breeding to Silver Maple’s stallion Majestic Noble SMF who will be bred to Hadayyah in 2006 for a 2008 EBC foal. Saturday nights Championship classes were of course an extreme collection of the best with champions and reserve form each age group. The Supreme Champion mare was the absolutely gorgeous Farres daughter Famira KA and Supreme Champion Stallion was the flawless *Al Adeed Al Shaqab (pictured above), both horses shown by Michael Byatt.

*Al Adeed is the sire of BB’s 2006 unborn foal. We have been a huge fan of *Al Adeed’s for a long time and we look forward to crossing BB on a straight Egyptian stallion. In fact three of our mares will be bred to straight Egyptian stallions in 2006.

Our third mare to be bred to a straight Egyptian stallion is Desert Rose, who will be bred to one of the most promising young stallions in the world today *Al Lahab.  He has exquisite type and a world-class pedigree.  He is currently standing at Om El Arab International and was presented at the Egyptian Event’s stallion presentation were we got to see him up close and wow, what a horse!

ATA Savannah Bey made us very proud not once but twice this month winning Reserve Champion Yearling Sweepstakes Filly at Region I and at Region II. She was presented by her trainer Greg Knowles. Both classes were very impressive classes with many outstanding fillies. Savannah is available for purchase and can be seen on our Sales Page. She will surely be an asset to any breeding program and what a show horse this filly is!

Hope you are having a great show and breeding season!

David & Scott

The heat season is already upon us here in Scottsdale and breeding season is coming to an end. We are very happy to announce the birth of SWF Sahara Rose and SWF Malika (pictured right). SWF Desert Rose (Magnum Psyche x BB Flamingo Rose) gave birth to a beautiful bay filly by Marwan Al Shaqab on April 16 th and Hadayyah (El Hadiyyah x Bint Bint Hamamaa) delivered a gorgeous chestnut straight Egyptian filly on May 17 th. Because of the lateness in the year we are leaving both mares open for an early start next year.

SWF Valencia ( Psytanium x F Cognacs Fantasy out of BB Flamingo Rose) has been checked in foal to Marwan Al Shaqab. BB Flamingo Rose has also been bred to Marwan Al Shaqab via embryo transfer and Marwan’s sire Gazal Al Shaqab via embryo transfer as well.

We would like to congratulate the following new owners of Stonewall Farm horses:

  • SWF Julliani (pictured below right) has been purchased by Barbara Behnke of
    Lakeville , Indiana.
  • SWF Blackeyed Susan has been purchased by Noel Bosse of Conifer, Colorado.

We will be attending the Region I show in Del Mar, California were ATA Savannah Bey will be presented by her trainer Greg Knowles in Yearling Sweepstakes Fillies. Then it’s off to the Egyptian Event in Lexington, Kentucky. We will have a commercial exhibit booth promoting the two magazines we represent here in the US, Tutto Arabi and Desert Heritage. If you have not yet seen these two publications please stop by our booth and take a look, you will be very impressed!

After the Egyptian Event David will be off to Michigan to attend his nephew James’ high school graduation. Congratulations James on a job well done! David will also be visiting several farms looking for up & coming super star foals for Scottsdale 2006. If you have a foal you would like him to see please contact him at david@stonewallfarm.com.

We hope that everyone is having a successful breeding season; we look forward to seeing your beautiful foals and best of look with the 2005 show season.

This year has really been a very exciting time for us. Moving to Scottsdale has truly been a life changing experience for us and we could not be happier to be here.

Over the past six months we have had so many guests from all over the world visit us and enjoy the beautiful Scottsdale weather. We thank you all for visiting and spending time with us and our extended family of beautiful Arabian horses.

We are anxiously awaiting this years foals (just two this year) out of Desert Rose and sired by Marwan Al Shaqab. The second foal is out of our straight Egyptian mare Hadayyah and sired by the black straight Egyptian stallion Presumido Feisul. This is both mares first foal so we are pretty excited to see what each can produce for us.

Breeding season here in Scottsdale is well under way, Valencia has been bred to Marwan Al Shaqab and BB is coming into her second heat cycle and will also be bred to Marwan.

We are very grateful to our friend, famed photographer Gigi Grasso from Italy for photographing our mares while visiting us during the Scottsdale show. After waiting many years to have Gigi at our farm, it was both and honor and a privilege and the results were truly amazing. We hope to have our new photos on line very soon.

Congratulations to Sheikh Mohammed Bin Saud Al Qasimi on the purchase of our colt Marajj, who was the 2005 Scottsdale Junior Champion. We co-owned Marajj with another farm, and we look forward to breeding our mares to him next year. Thank you to Marajj's breeder Joel Desmarteau for breeding such an outstanding colt and for the opportunity for us to be a part of his life. We wish all much success this upcoming show season!
